One of our ALL time favorite Bloggers, Cara from The First Grade Parade is hosting a SUPER fun new linky centered around Pinterest! What a fabulous idea!!!! Since we are sightly *Pin-Crazy* we could NOT turn down an excuse to spend even more time on our favorite website. Besides, anything for Cara Carroll.

I said YES... AGAIN!!!

Hey there frugal followers!!!  I hope you all have been enjoying your summer!  I know we sure have!  It has been SOOO nice to relax, hang out with friends, BBQ, take beach trips, squeeze in a little wedding planning and most importantly... NOT THINK ABOUT SCHOOL!  I hate to say it, but summer is already half way over (insert sad face here)!  Can you believe it!?!?! We've totally been filling our days with summertime fun!  Here's a quick pic of us being our silly selves from Kelly's birthday extravaganza!  Love these girls!!!

Now for some exciting news... drum roll please... during our 3rd annual Red, White, and Blue Bash (I should have taken pictures of all the yummy food!) Melissa totally surprised us and popped the question!!!! I am SOOO excited to announce that I will be standing beside her as her matron of honor next June!!! AHHHHH!  And Kelly will be there too as one of her bridesmaids!!! We were both so honored and excited she chose us to stand beside her on her BIG DAY!  And her proposal was nothing short of AMAZING!!! How cute is this!?!?!

Melissa put together an adorable beach themed proposal that included monogramed beach chairs, a hat, and a bag. And that's not all... she threw in some jewelry, a wine glass, a picture frame, and a few other little girly things!  She totally spoiled us, how could we say no!!! hahaha

She's so crafty!  I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it all and I'm so honored and excited to be part of her special day!  Kelly and I can't wait to test out my new beach chairs... guess we're going to need to plan a trip to the beach real soon (oh, darn)!!!!  Until next time frugal followers!

McGraw-Hill Wonders

Hi friends! This is not the most exciting post ever written. Our county adopted the a new reading series for this upcoming year. It wasn't our first pick but we ended up with McGraw-Hill Wonders. We were using McGraw-Hill Treasures so their are A LOT of similarities. We were browsing through the online resources and were happy to see a ton of great materials available online. We quickly made a sight word list and phonics cards for unit 1.

Click Here for Sight Word Cards for Unit 1

The new Wonders series focuses on a "phonics pattern" instead of a specific spelling list.

More resources for the McGraw-Hill Wonders series to come! Have a great day!

Because Teachers deserve a Vacation!

Two short days after we started our summer break, we headed north to Flager Beach, Florida to enjoy a 4-day getaway! Brittany and I both have a second job (together... of course) at a local restaurant. So we had to work both Saturday and Sunday before we left for our mini vacay on Sunday night. We were both a little disappointed we didn't have time to go shopping for some new summery outfits, but we made it work. Our friend, Kelly was celebrating her birthday 28th birthday and planned the perfect little summer trip to celebrate school being out and her bday!

Happy Birthday Kelly!!!
We arrived at this beautiful destination around 7 p.m on Sunday! This three bedroom beach house/river house was all ours for the next four days!!! ****Cue Fireworks****

Our home for the weekend!

The inside of the house was beautiful and we took a few pics to show you!!

Perfect place to relax!

This dream kitchen was ours!!
Beautiful Pool!

We had a BBQ each night!
We loved the backyard!! The infinity pool was on the river (the beach was on the other side of the house). We spent a lot our time by the pool soaking up the sun!
Infinity style pool on the river!
Many S'mores were made here!

Backyard! We did lots of fishing! Brittany turned out to be a pro!
The fishing Champ!
The fish were pretty tiny but we had fun trying!

We also spent a lot of our time in the backyard fishing. Brittany was a pro! She caught the most fish during the trip!

Overall, we had a blast! It was definitely a trip for the books! We spent our days eating way too much BBQ and sipping drinks by the pool, beach and river! We spent our evenings eating way too much BBQ (the eating never stopped) and making s'mores by the fire pit! It was the perfect way to end a busy school year and kickoff the first few days of summer!! Take us back!!!

Last Week of SCHOOL!

Hello sweet friends!!! We would like to apologize for the neglect the past two weeks. We ended our year with a bang!
Parent Letter

I means seriously... it was jam packed with fun!
Shirts pre-autographs!

Last day lunch was on boxes :(
The Red Carpet Award Show was AWESOME! We'll definitely do it again next year! Unfortunately, we didn't snap ANY pics because we were too busy laughing and cheering on our first grade friends! They wore sunglasses down the red carpet and added their "hollywood star" to the walk of fame. They also stood at the podium to accept their awards and gave a speech. It was absolutely precious! They were blowing kisses, giving out hugs and high fives all while waving to their biggest fans!

They also LOVED their end of the year videos. This year we added a little something extra to our video, INTERVIEWS! We interviewed student's about different events and moments in first grade. Both the kids and parents loved it! It made us all cry A LOT because we were sad to see a wonderful year together end and happy tears came too because it was a reminder of all the fun we've had together!

It was a difficult last day because it was truly a LAST DAY for all of us! Saying goodbye to our kiddos was bittersweet because we are all on our way to a new adventure. Moving schools is most difficult because we are going to miss all of them! For 180 days those little ones are all ours and this year we have to say goodbye in a more permanent way :( tear... We had a longer than usual group hug and said our final goodbyes. Saying goodbye to all of our HVE friends and coworkers was difficult but we both plan on staying in touch with everyone and look forward to seeing them soon.

We spent our last day (teacher work day), June 7th finishing our big move! This time we really did need to rent a trailer. We had lots of help too! My future in-laws came and saved the day! We treated them to some delicious pizza afterwards!
Here we go again!

One of our new favorite eating spots near our new home school!
We don't have a huge selection of places to eat! In fact the only place we saw near the school that offered a happy hour was called "BUCKED UP" and it did not look like a friendly place to visit. On the other hand, it may be very frugal! Hopefully we'll find a hidden gem somewhere near by, otherwise we have a 45 minute drive to our old stomping grounds, Mojo's. They offer a teacher discount every Friday! We're regulars!

To say we were busy the last week of school would be so far from an understatement!!! We DID NOT STOP! It was pure craziness! Thank goodness we made it through!!!

The good news  is two days into summer break starting we took a MUCH needed SUMMER VACATION! It was the perfect way to start summer and one of the best trips we've ever taken! It will have to wait for the next blog post but here's a little sneak peek...

Warn the roads.. it's Traffic School time!!!

We're so excited that we were able to sign up for Teaching Blog Traffic School last night! Being the cheap frugal girls that we are, we were able to get it on sale last night for 25 percent off! WOO! We've been wanting to sign up for awhile, but we decided to wait until summer break so we would actually be able to participate!

We signed up a few days early because we just can't resist a bargain!

Anyway, we're thrilled to be members and start learning some new blogging techniques from Charity!! Today was our last Monday of the school year and we only have 3 more 1/2 days before we're finished!!!! So close...
