I don't normally comment on posts but I was browsing your Linus the Minus and Gus Plus posters and there is a mathematical error in your phrase. I only comment because the rule you've made doesn't work when the kids enter upper grades. It concerns me when kids learn great tricks that don't work for every case. They've memorized and practiced an overgeneralized rule. When you take away it ISN'T always smaller. 3- (-5)= 8 . Young kids can learn about negatives too; I've seen it many times. I love your products, but I see the importance of a STRONG math foundation early on.
